Although, exercising can be a very beneficial treatment for anxiety, there are also other ways that anxiety can be treated. One way that was found to treat anxiety was meditation and relaxation techniques. A study was shown with a class that performed formal meditation for 8 weeks. By the 8th week, the patients would sit in silence for periods up to 45 minutes. This increase in periods of stillness and silence helps the patients increase the ability to concentrate and achieve a degree of calmness. The result from this study showed a significant reduction in symptoms of anxiety and depression in the patients.
Another way that was found to treat anxiety was through mindfulness-based therapy. The mindfulness practices focuses on being non judgmental and open about a moment or situation. This was shown to effectively counter the effects of stressors, which may lead to the cause anxiety. This was an effective treatment for treating anxiety in clinical populations.
